Centered on delivering a modernized, multi-channel banking experience, Metro Credit Union’s latest actions to refresh their branches mirrors their commitment to staying relevant and reliable for their members.
When Metro Credit Union was ready to expand their branch network with a second location in Peabody, NES Group was tasked to create a contemporary environment that aligns with Metro Credit Union’s brand and forward-thinking approach.
Construction for the existing retail multi-use building consisted of a complete fit-up of framing, flooring, millwork ceilings, finishes, and upgrades of all building systems. Even with its smaller footprint of 1,309 square feet, this branch is equipped with everything essential for the ideal member experience, including a 24/hour ATM vestibule, a lobby with a three-station teller bar, a comfortable waiting area, a coin machine, a private office, a conference room, and an employee lounge.
Our interior designers successfully helped create an open and inviting atmosphere for such a small space in subtle yet effective ways. The feature ceiling, one of our favorite details, has baffles forming a faceted series of geometric planes with sharp angles that engage the eye and help make the narrow lobby feel more elongated. Additionally, the white brick accent wall provides texture and contrast against the furniture and glass offices. The lighting pendants that hang in the lobby, office, and conference room provide double benefits – not only do they look modern, but they also absorb sound. These fixtures are made of felt-like acoustic panels surrounding an LED light.
Using environmental graphics, our marketing division gave the branch additional energy and vibrancy. Members are greeted into the ATM vestibule with a custom-designed surround and welcome message on the glass doors. Inside, the branded journey continues with a larger-than-life welcome wall with tone-on-tone vinyl words displaying Metro’s core values and the local charities they support.
The branding journey continues into the waiting area with a hanging display of images that includes QR codes members can scan to learn more about that service. Another dynamic feature in the waiting area is the coffee table with a Sisyphus – a kinetic art sculpture with a metal ball that rolls silently through sand forming a pattern. This kinetic art installation is quite mesmerizing to watch as it moves continuously, creating and erasing beautiful patterns.
This new branch was designed with the member experience top of mind. The atmosphere encapsulates Metro Credit Union’s pursuit of delivering a modernized, positive banking experience while maintaining their extensive history of serving the community.
