When Rhode Island Credit Union (RICU) set out to create its new operations center, the goal was clear: design a space that would meet the growing needs of the organization while supporting its staff with a modern, engaging, and efficient workplace. After an extensive search, the credit union selected 95 Jefferson Boulevard—a centrally located, easily accessible building that checked every box. Following major renovations and a thoughtful addition, the site has been transformed into a vibrant home for RICU’s future.
A Design That Reflects RICU’s Identity
RICU’s new space is designed to feel modern, fresh, and colorful, with interiors that celebrate the brand’s identity. Wood slat walls, geometric finishes, and bold color accents bring energy and dimension to key areas such as the entrance lobby, community spaces, and executive conference rooms. Patterned acoustic panels reduce noise while adding texture, and bright yellow pendant fixtures define open office zones with a playful touch.
Flooring solutions mix carpet tile and luxury vinyl to balance durability with design, subtly guiding circulation while differentiating office environments. In restrooms and high-use areas, textured tiles and pops of brand-inspired burgundy and yellow create visual interest. A palette of light grey, charcoal, and bluish-green accents keeps the atmosphere fresh and balanced.
Flexible, Employee-Centered Layouts
The layout supports flexibility, efficiency, and employee wellbeing. Private offices with glass walls allow natural light to reach open office areas, while decentralized support spaces minimize distractions and travel distances. Dedicated wellness spaces—including a quiet wellness room for mothers and those who may need a personal quiet space, fitness room, and an inviting employee lounge—promote balance and satisfaction.
The lounge features varied seating, large windows for outdoor views, encaustic tile in brand colors, and warm pendant lighting. The fitness room energizes with geometric flooring and acoustic treatments, while the wellness room provides a quiet retreat with soft seating and sculptural acoustic walls.
Spaces for Connection and Collaboration
In the executive area, modular seating, flexible conference rooms with mobile partitions, and hospitality nooks encourage collaboration and communication. Environmental graphics throughout the building reinforce RICU’s mission and community pride, with features such as a core values wall, a vision and mission wall, and dimensional lettering that showcases the Rhode Island towns where RICU branch locations are rooted.
