Reimagining the Branch Network: From Insight to Execution

Financial institutions today face a pivotal moment.

Branches are no longer places to complete transactions — they are powerful environments for building trust, deepening relationships, and bringing a brand to life.

At NES Group, we help banks and credit unions transform their branch networks through a strategy that unites data intelligence, architectural design, branded environments, and construction execution — all aligned under one integrated team.

Here’s how our proven process guides institutions from vision to rollout.

Start with Insight: Using Data to Drive Smarter Decisions

Successful branch transformation begins with a clear understanding of your customers — who they are, how they behave, and where growth opportunities exist. Through our strategic partnership with The Long Group, NES Group brings advanced data analytics, site evaluation, and market intelligence into the earliest stages of planning.

For Salem Five, this approach is guiding continued expansion across Massachusetts’ North Shore. By identifying high-potential markets, data-driven insights are helping ensure each new branch is positioned for long-term success.

Design for How People Bank Today

Today’s consumers expect ease, personalization, and meaningful human connection. Translating those expectations into physical space is where strategy becomes experience.

For Community Bank, N.A., this meant rethinking the branch at scale. As part of a major expansion and rebranding initiative, NES Group designed and managed more than 252 locations in just 18 months — spanning ground-up construction, renovations, build-outs, and signage upgrades.

Each branch was tailored to its specific market while aligned to a broader standards program, ensuring brand consistency across the network.

Design strategies flexed to reflect local context:

  • Urban: Tech-forward environments with a warm, modern aesthetic
  • Suburban: Open, residential-inspired layouts that support comfort and flow
  • Rural: Designs that reflect the character and heritage of the surrounding community

From exterior materials to interior finishes, every detail was intentionally coordinated to support both the customer experience and day-to-day operations.

Bring the Brand to Life in Every Location

A strong branch network should feel cohesive—never generic.

NES Group’s marketing team ensures that each location communicates a clear, consistent brand story while still reflecting its local community.

For Avidia Bank, this approach is brought to life through a network-wide prototype that establishes a unified foundation for layout, materials, and branding. From there, each branch is thoughtfully layered with localized and branded elements—custom murals that celebrate the surrounding community, logos integrated into teller pods, custom glass banding, and even branded coin machine wraps. The result is a network that feels unmistakably Avidia, while still creating a sense of place and connection unique to each location.

Integrate Technology that Supports the Experience

Technology plays a critical role in today’s branch — but its purpose is to enhance relationships, not replace them.

When Ion Bank modernized its network, digital tools such as ITMs, interactive displays, and digital signage were thoughtfully integrated alongside dedicated consultative spaces. The result is a balanced environment where efficiency and human interaction coexist seamlessly.

Execute with Structure

Transforming a single branch is a project. Transforming a network is a program.

NES Group provides the program management, architectural expertise, and construction oversight needed to execute large-scale rollouts with clarity and control.

For Service Credit Union, this meant expanding into new markets with a strategic, long-term approach. A scalable prototype model allowed each branch to adapt to its site while maintaining consistency in program, brand, and operations.

As new locations were developed, insights from earlier projects informed future ones — creating a continuous improvement loop that strengthened each subsequent build.

A Partner for the Entire Journey

Branch transformation isn’t just about updating finishes — it’s about aligning strategy, design, brand, technology, and execution into one cohesive vision.

That’s where NES Group stands apart.

With integrated expertise across architecture, branded environments, project management, and construction — combined with data-driven insights from The Long Group — we help financial institutions confidently evolve their branch networks to meet the expectations of today’s customers and tomorrow’s growth.
